Meketa Investment Group was incorporated in 1978 and became registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser in April 1979.
The firm originated by providing investment strategy and systems advice to the Harvard Management Company (The Harvard University Endowment) and has been providing Outsourced CIO services since early in our firm’s history.
The firm was hired by its first pension fund client in 1978, a relationship that continues to this day. Since 1978, Meketa Investment Group has grown steadily, and today consults on over $400 billion in assets for over 100 clients whose aggregate institutional assets exceed $830 billion.
The majority of clients that we advise do not have internal investments staffs. Therefore, we perform functions which otherwise would be handled by a CIO. These services include asset allocation, manager selection, asset/liability modeling, liquidity studies, risk measurement/monitoring, manager guidelines, manager hiring/firing, fee negotiations, client reporting, rebalancing, executing asset transfers, and other services with client approval.
In 2006, Meketa Investment Group began managing client portfolios as a discretionary advisor. In 2014, Meketa Fiduciary Management was created to manage client portfolios as a discretionary advisor. In September 2015, Rafi Zaman joined Meketa Fiduciary Management as CIO, elevating our ability to provide fiduciary services to the marketplace.
